First Time Flower Arranging: I FOUND A HOBBY!

You know... there are so many aspects that make up a person's life. I'm talking about family, friends, hobbies, career, adventures, haha you get the gist.

Well, the "hobbies" part of my life has seriously disintegrated into almost nothing since I entered college. I remember "back in the days" I used to be so much more adventurous. I actually had hobbies, the 2 main ones being dancing and singing. Prior to college, I actually danced for 10 years and participated in my school choir. For choir, I traveled throughout California and out of country to compete. I dedicated so much time and effort into these 2 hobbies, and I enjoyed them so much, especially singing. I wasn't by any means amazing at singing, but something about it just gave me so much fulfillment. Once I graduated from high school, I literally dropped both hobbies to focus in school. I was so determined to excel in my courses and begin my career, that I left myself without a hobby. I didn't have a hobby for at least 5 years. Isn't that crazy? It wasn't until recently that I decided to make a change, and I found a hobby, FLOWER ARRANGEMENT! <3

That hobby came spontaneously, and I'm honestly not sure how it came about. I might be wrong, but I think Christina and I wanted to plan something fun for our 10 years friendship anniversary. LOL haha we're cute, I know! :) I'm pretty sure it was me who brought the flower arrangement idea up. I mean... I've always loved flowers, and with my DIY nature, I kind of wanted to try flower arranging out. Also, since it was our 10 years annivesary, I thought it'd be cute if we arranged flowers and gave them to one another. With that said, we went to the LA Flower District over the weekend to buy flowers.

Okay enough talking, here's the final result!

Ta-daaaaaaa~~~

I absolutely love it! haha I know I know... I made it, so of course I love it. I have to say... I was extremely daring with all the colors and textures. I literally walked into the flower district with zero inspiration, and I'm pretty surprised with how it turned out. I ended up with a very festive fall bouquet. I think it might be a bit dramatic for casual gift giving, and it might be a little too exotic for Valentine's Day, but I can seriously see it as a beautiful center piece for a Fall Wedding, Thanksgiving Dinner Party, or a movie premier or something. OMG, for some reason, I think it totally works for a Jurassic Park movie premier!

Here are close-ups of the flowers and fillers in the arrangement!

Although I love flowers, I'm actually pretty clueless when it comes to flower names. I'll try my best to search up the names of each plant I used, but definitely leave a comment to correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Alright, so in the bouquet are:

1) Roses
2) Purple Statice (Limonium)
3) Coffee Beans
4) Baby Breathes
5) Leather Leaf Fern

I hope I got all the names right!

I seriously had so much fun making my first flower arrangement. So much fun that I discovered my hobby! Yay! haha It's actually a pretty big deal to me, since I haven't had a hobby for so many years! :) I've made 2 bouquets so far, so I'll try to share the other one in another entry. Seriously can't wait to make my next bouquet!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I'd love to know your hobby, so feel free to comment and let me know! :) Have a great day!

I Can't Believe It's Been 3 Years Since I Last Blogged!

So.... it's passed midnight... and I can't believe I'm doing this.

Doing what?

Writing a post after being away for 3 years.

It's so crazy, I literally don't know where to begin. hmm... let's see, 3 years ago I graduated from college and after trying a few occupations, I finally officially started my career as a graphic designer. Why did I stop blogging? I'm really not sure if there's a solid answer. Perhaps it's cause I was so lost in growing up and becoming an adult, that I just needed to step away and find myself? Maybe I relied a lot on my blog for the wrong reason, and I just needed to stay away and focus on something else? I'm not really sure of the answer, but the longer I stopped posting, the more intimidated I felt to blog again. Does that even make sense?

There were definitely times in the past when I wanted to blog again. I remember a few times when I started writing a blog entry, and just stopped in the middle of writing and just pressed the "close" button... Not sure what got into me, but I just got an itch to write tonight. I actually miss blogging from time to time. I miss being able to document those happy memories and look back on pictures and read my thoughts from the past.

I'm pretty sure I'll end up posting this entry... but where from there on? Obviously, I have many more responsibilities than I did in the past, but hopefully I can use this platform as a place to once again document my experiences. Hopefully, it'll be a nice place to escape from my responsibilities, instead of place that I find intimidating.

Good Night.

Selena Gomez's We Day California Speech = My Self Reflection

I was in the middle of eating lunch today when I heard a brief snippet of Selena Gomez's We Day California Speech on Fox11 News. Though it was just a small part of the 8 minute-ish speech, I was curious enough to go home and youtube it! In case you have watched it yet, here it is:

I don't think Selena knew how inspirational her speech would be... but it really impacted me and got me thinking about myself. Let's start with high school... I used to have a lot of friend during high school... but even back then, I realized that among all of my "friends", I found it tough to figure out who to eat lunch with. Weird right? I mean... if a person has a lot of friends, shouldn't it be easy choosing whom to eat with during lunch? Well that wasn't the case for me.... Since I've graduated high school and college, I've lost more then half the friends I used to have. Sometimes it really surprises me how many old friends I've lost, and of course just thinking about it brings me down sometimes.

A moral of Selena's speech is to be you... to be none other than YOU. Selena mentioned that who you are is who you surround yourself with and I can't agree more. Just cause I got along with people, didn't mean that those friends were for me. I was trying to find myself back then, and deep deep deep down in my heart I think I kind of knew that those friends weren't for me... but I just didn't see it yet. That's exactly why it was hard for me to figure out who sit with during lunch, and that's exactly why those people and I don't contact each other anymore. It's not the amount of friends I have that matter, it's the quality of the friendship of the friends I still keep in touch with that matters. Though a lot of people came and left my life, I'm so so so thankful for those who stayed.

Never try to be someone you're not. It's always good to improve yourself, but it's not good to change yourself just to please everyone around you... cause at the end of the day everyone's going to feel happy except for you.

I really like Selena Gomez, but I've never been a huge fan of hers. What she said in her speech really inspired me and got me thinking about myself in the past, present, and future. I've been wondering why I've lost contact with my friends, and today I've truly found my answer, it's because during these few years, I've grown up, I've found myself, and I've been "me".

Saying "Goodbye" to My Old Go-To Heels & "Hello" to a New Pair!

Do you guys have a pair of go-to heels? A pair that seems to match with everything and feels amazingly comfortable in?  Well.. I sure do!

These were my go-to heels for the passed 3 years!

I got my first pair of Franco Sarto Snake Skin heels when I was in college, and it was seriously love at first sight. I've had a history of buying cute heels that were way too formal to be worn casually, and way too tall for me to walk comfortably in. So how did I end up finding my go-to heels? Nordstrom! I remember shopping with my mom a few years back at Nordstrom. I was browsing around the shoe section without any thought of buying shoes, and found myself eyeing these pair of heels. It's hard to tell from my picture above, but the shoes in real life are much lighter in color and "were" absolutely gorgeous. I bought the heels and I think it's one of the best purchases made! I've gotten a handful of compliments on these heels throughout the years, and they are hands down the most easy-to-match and comfortable heels I've ever owned!  These are the most worn heels I've ever had. I've worn them so much that the outside and inside of the heels are beginning to come apart. After being with me for these few years, and having gone through such a long journey with me... I've finally made the decision to let them go and say goodbye to them.

I know it's kind of awkward to miss a pair of shoes..but these are a pair that mean a lot to me and ones that I genuinely made a lot of memories with! I don't think I'll ever feel the same way about a pair of shoes as I do for these, but I've been on the search lately for a pair that can take place of these shoes after they are gone. After a few months of casual searching, I've finally found a pair, which... I actually bought. And dun dun dun dun dunnn~~~

These new pair of heels are from Enzo Angiolini's line (What a coincidence, I also found them at Nordstrom!), and I am absolutely heads over heels for them!  I love how the heels are on the shorter end...but not short enough to be little kitten heels. I think its rusty salmon color is absolutely beautiful, and I can see it matching with so many colors!! You guys can't see this in the picture, but the bottom soles are a wooden pattern which adds so much class and elegance to the heels! I absolutely adore the cute cut-outs and straps, and I cannot wait to wear these to work as well as during my casual days off work! =)

Here's a link if you guys are interested: HERE

Shoes come and go, and there are some shoes that hold a deeper meaning in my heart that others. I'm going to really miss my old go-to heels, but I'm excited to create new memories with my new ones! (Cross my fingers that they're as comfortable as the old ones~

What Would I Do Without Weekends?? (Hangout at Downtown Alhambra)

Good Morning!!!!

I know, it's almost 12 PM right now, but technically, it's still considered morning, so yep Good Morning! =)  I'm currently sipping on some hot green tea, and yep writing my blog!  This morning had a great start, so I hope the rest of the day will be awesome as well! =)

Since school ended for me, I think there were times where I forgot about how precious weekends were.  But lately, I've been extremely busy during the week... so busy that I finally learned to appreciate my weekends again! =)  So yes, hence the title of this post being, "What Would I Do Without Weekends??". =)

Since nothing has really happened this morning, I'm going to share part of my day yesterday with you guys!  =)  Yesterday was awesome!  It was the first day out of 7 days where I was able to sleep in, take a nice morning shower, dress casually, and walk out of the house with no make-up!! =)   I hung out with my friend during the afternoon, and had an amazing time!  We hung out at Downtown Alhambra, and I was treated to a super delicious meal at an Italian Restaurant named Caffe Italiano!

Yep!  That's me standing in front of the Restaurant!  It's the cutest restaurant ever!!

This is what the menu looks like!  It was my first time trying not just Authentic Italian Cuisine, but just any type of cuisine!  The price points were a little expensive, but the food was spectacular!  It's so good... that I'm actually craving it right now!

This is a rough view of how the inside of the restaurant looks like! =)

There were bunch of cool wall decorations in the restaurant, and I managed to snap of few pictures of them to share on my blog! =)

Even their restroom had cute decorations!  =)  Here are two wall paintings that I thought were pretty cool!

Anyway, moving on from decorations, let's talk about the food! =D

So this was what we started off with... bread and bread sticks lol!  I had the best tasting bread and bread sticks ever!!!  They were so delicious that my friend and I couldn't help but ask for more!  I never knew that white bread tasted so delicious with olive oil until yesterday!!

I wish I wrote down all the names of the dishes we ordered, but since I didn't, I'll just describe them instead!  So for our appetizer, we decided to be spontaneous and order Tuna fish!  I didn't know the the tuna would be served raw.... I've always refrained from eating raw meat, but I decided to try the fish anyway, since we already ordered it!

It ended up being the best tasting dish ever, and we finished within minutes!  It was my first time consuming raw fish this way, and it tasted amazing!  I literally felt the fish melting in my mouth!! Super Yummy!  Not only did the fish taste amazing, the sauce and avocados complimented the fish extremely well!!

The 2nd dish we ordered was fish filet with their unique tomato sauce, complimented with yummy sliced potatoes as the side dish!  I wasn't especially in love with this dish.  The taste was very strong, but it was enjoyable.

For our 3rd dish, we ordered Fettuccine with mushrooms and pasta!  I always feel that the best way to compare one restaurant to another, is by tasting a dish that both restaurants have on the menu!  This dish was amazing!!  It's very creamy, but at the same time didn't taste overly flavorful!

The dishes together!!

As for dessert, we ordered their Tiramisu!  I've only tried Tiramisu dessert in Asian restaurant and bakeries, so I was really curious about how it would taste like from an Italian Cuisine Restaurant!  lol It ended up tasting extremely delicious and though I was overly full, I didn't mind having another one! LOL

Alright, so that's it to lunch, after lunch, my friend and I decided to walk around the area, and we ended our day with some yummy boba drinks from a place called Cha for Tea!  =)

I ordered a Chai Tea with Boba, and he ordered a Mange Peach Milk Tea w/ Boba! Yummy!!

Yep, so that's basically our hangout at Downtown Alhambra!  Much more happened after our hangout, but I think I'll end my post here!  =)

Weekends are so precious to me, and I'm seriously not sure what I'd do without them!  Today's my last day before a busy week at work, so I'm definitely gonna make the most out of my day! =)  I hope you guys had an amazing weekend, and I will update my blog soon! =)

Live the Most Out of Each & Every Moment of My Life

My life in a nutshell:

Life has been... surprisingly not a roller coaster.  As you can see, I've presented myself as a total fatty who takes pictures of herself occasionally, and enjoys capturing the precious views that life surprises us with.  haha I guess that's about right.. I love eating, I enjoy taking selfies once in a while, and I love nature! =)

But yah, the pictures above are just some of many pictures I've taken in the previous month and a half!  A lot has gone on, and now life is finally settled in a bit... which I'm totally glad about! =) Sometimes I look up at the sky, and can't help but remember how crazily small I am in this enormous universe.  I think the picture above is a perfect example of what causes me to feel that way.  I'm not sure what holds for me tomorrow, but I'll try to live the most out of each and every moment of my life. =)

My Adventure to: Little Tokyo (Japanese Village Plaza)

I've been a huge Busy Bee lately!....Which is good, cause I actually like busying myself, and of course ending my day feeling productive!

Despite my liking of being busy, what has been tough for me, is balancing everything on my plate!  It's so important to be organized, and I guess it's been tough for me to balance everything, especially posting on my blog!    But I'm sure that within time, I'll figure out how to I guess balance my day, and get everything done!

Anyway, enough with the introduction, and lets get to the point!  Today I want to talk about my trip to Little Tokyo, more specifically, the Japanese Village Plaza! =) Yay!  lol.

Fun Fact: I actually posted a blog entry on my trip to China Town last year, so if you're interested in reading about that entry, please click: HERE.

Anyway.....
Let the Post Start Rollin'! =)
Is there a place that you always went to as a kid?  Well for me, there are actually a lot of places, but two of the most frequent ones are China Town & Little Tokyo!  I used to go to Little Tokyo a lot as a kid, and I don't know what happened, but somehow someway, I stopped going, and it's probably been almost a decade since I've last gone!  I might be wrong, but it sure feels like it's been a decade!

Though the first half of the route to Little Tokyo was basically the same as the one to China Town & Downtown L.A. (Places I always visit), I found myself very anxious and excited!  I snapped a lot of pictures, and I definitely want to share them on my blog!

As I headed to Little Tokyo, this is probably one of the first buildings I saw with Japanese characters.  I love how traditional the building looks! (Sorry for the Glare! I took the picture in the car!  I should have opened the window before taking the picture!

I've never been to Miyako Hotel before, but the outer appearance of it looks very stunning! =)  I'm sure it's not a new building, but I just love how put together it looks...if that makes sense.....haha it reminds me of Japan!  Actually, the whole environment there reminded me of Japan!

Love Love Love the Circle Windows!

I was pretty limited in time, so I didn't get a chance to explore all of Little Tokyo!  So the location I focused on was the Japanese Village Plaza!! Have you guys ever been there before?
Fun Fact: The whether was absolutely amazing that day!  Look how beautiful the sky was!

The entrance of the Japanese Village Plaza!  It was a nice feeling being welcomed by a Japanese Restaurant (Only $2 per dish!)

This is basically the right hand side of the entrance of the Japanese Village Plaza!  Again, I really love the traditional architecture of the buildings!  I really felt like I was in Japan! =)  I've never been to Japan before, but I really hope to go one day, cause I've been reading and hearing about some amazing things about Japan!

Because these trees were left with literally nothing but branches, I wasn't able to pin point what type of trees these were!  haha However, it's only reasonable that my guess is that they are Pink Cherry Blossom Trees right? =)

I think the streets make such a romantic spot for couples to share a date at!  =) =) =)
haha I will definitely come here with my date someday! =)

Next to the Japanese Village Plaza is a 6 storied building, that is located right on top of an American Apparel store!  How cool is that?  lol I wouldn't mind living there!

Anyway, here are some pictures of the stores in the Japanese Village Plaza!

I didn't get a chance to go in there!  Feeling a little regretful lol...I'll make sure to check it out next time!

I've never had Shabu Shabu at a legit Japanese place before!  Kinda wanna give this place a try!

The streets of the Japanese Village Plaza!

Yamazaki Bread & Cake Bakery is the BOMB!  They seriously have the best tasting Donuts....EVER!!!!

Haha finally a picture of me!  I liked this bakery so much, I had to take picture with it! =)  And as you guys can see, I'm showing my support! LOL

LOL I think I have an obsession with the combination of fresh strawberries & cake!  The cakes look absolutely delicious!!!

This is the super yummy Donut I mentioned earlier ago!  It truly is yummy!  Though I absolutely love this bakery, I was a little disgusted after seeing a fly inside there!!! =(

I wanna try everything in there!!!

This is so cool!  Apparently, the bakery had a window where customers can watch the pastries being made!  haha it was quite entertaining!  I actually stood there for some time, watching the baker do her magic!

I stopped by a Japanese Cosmetics Store that carried products for a pretty good price!  Everything in there was from Japan, which is good....However with my incapability of reading Japanese, I didn't know what most of the stuff was! LOL  Good thing there was a nice Japanese worker who helped me translate some of the products!  And I must say....her skin was absolutely flawless!  I'm so jealous!  People from Japan have the most gorgeous skin!  I told her that her skin was super pretty...and guess what she said?  She said "thank you", and "you too!".  I looked at her kinda stunned, and told her, "thank you, but it's the make-up!" LOL

One of my favorite markets in Little Tokyo!
I remember myself visiting this market a lot when I was little!  I love how traditional and kinda "old-fashioned?"  this super market is! =)

Sanrio in Little Tokyo!!

Anyway, that's about it to the pictures I took in the Village Plaza area.  As I said, I was pretty tight on time, so I wasn't able to spend as much time around the area as I hoped to!  I definitely see myself visiting Little Tokyo again in the future, but hopefully by then I'll have plenty of time to explore the area!

xoxo,
Wing =)
